    Moultrie feed stations

I'm considering getting away from using a feeder here at the house and just using hand corn and possibly one of these feed stations. What's yalls thoughts on these?

For me coons and squirrels would empty it way to fast. For that reason I don't see a benifit over a spin feeder.

I do like the hand corn and will put out a good bit from a truck slinger upon arriving at the lease and prior to leaving.

Would it be any different than hand corn?

skim through this thread and see how many you see....also, the notorious 278 was killed eating out of one.

What's the reason for wanting to change?

They don’t hold much. But they will work. Maybe a 278” deer will feed eat at it some night.

I use the gravity feeder from RedNeck..it holds about 80 lbs. I can put it up high enough to keep pigs out. Squirrels and coons get some but not a lot. I did have to make a wire cage for the top to keep the squirrels from eating the plastic.

I bought one of the new ones with 2 trough openings. Idk what I'm doing wrong but my bucks are scared of it. I had pictures of them walking up to it then running away

Squirrels will eat the top off. If you are wanting that type of feeder go with 4" pvc with a 90 at the bottom and a cap on top.

That thread is the reason I've considered it.

I only use the spin feeder for pigs but I have allot more luck souring corn and using that then I do with the spin feeder. Just looking to change my setups a little bit and try to increase my odds I guess.

I blend corn and protein in mine. It will hold about 30#. I have it mounted high enough that the hogs can't eat out of it, but they bump the bottom until food falls out. Also have pictures of up to 5 coons at a time eating out of it. Deer got used to it pretty quick. Critters will chew the top, like mentioned above.

How often do you have to refill?

What if they got away because they were eating out of these all night and not when the feeder went off?? I thought the 278 was eating out of them at night also.
