    Real World Broadhead Tests

Check out my "real world tests" of these two heads this past weekend.

There was an old thread back at least 10 years ago called "Broadhead test on a dead Cow" on the Leatherwall, which is the traditional bow hunting section of Bowsite.
This thread made me think of that one.

I keep seeing good things about the Sevr's and VIP Combat Veterans. My only concern with the Sevr is, will the blades deflect if they hit a hard muscle, like the heart or am I over thinking it?

I’ve used the SEVR Ti 1.5 for last two years. Very impressed with the head. I’ve taken Turkey, 12 hogs and 4 deer. Fly like darts.

The only thing that bothers me is the redeployment of the blades. Once they open and lock, it’s a PITA to unlock them.

I think you're overthinking it. I haven't seen them deflect off ribs or scapulas, so the heart won't be an issue.

Had to laugh at this as I replaced a bunch of blades yesterday. I shot a pig last Friday morning with the 1.7. When I was trying to close up that one, I bent the fire out of the couple plastic wrenches I had, trying to get it closed. Finally got frustrated the took the whole head apart.

I didn't realize it before, but the the little locking tabs on both blades were bent slightly after running through the boar's scapula. It was bent just a little, but no amount of torquing by the wrench would have helped me close it, after taking apart and looking at it. Might be something to look into if you're having a tough time getting them closed. Usually I can close them with just my fingers, but that one was a royal PITA until I took it apart.
