Never seen a hognose anywhere close to that size.

I've always thought they were kind of funny snakes. A lot of times they'll roll over and play dead if they can't convince you that they're a cobra. This one tried to play it off like he was.

My grandpa said he had one in his yard the other day. Said it puffed up and crawled off with its head up.

That is true. They're a rear fanged snake and mildly toxic.

I've sure seen a bunch of them this year seems like. I can't remember if I posted a picture of that big Western Hog Nosed snake I found but that sucker was a nice sized snake too. Biggest one I had ever found before.

They come in a variety of colors. That one I found is pretty standard for around here. In some areas the Easterns are darn near black almost to the point that their patterns aren't visible. I ain't ever seen one that color though.
