I am hunting this evening a spot I call River Meadow. I killed my buck last year out of this tree. I am in the middle of a 45 yard wide meadow that runs from the base of a steep slope over to the river. West wind blowing out across the river in the pasture behind me. Late start. Been in the tree about 30 minutes. I bumped two doe walking in. It's going to get dark in here quickly

Daggum Mike!!! I am just catching up to all of this and now following. I agree that one stand is definitely in a beautiful spot and would be hard to not over bowhunt. 250 pounds on the hoof is downright serious......that would be enough for me to sling an arrow also. 1 week until my Saskatoon flight and following this hunt is my primer........lol!!!!

I saw only the two doe walking in and one walking out.

I have hunted that tree twice before on morning sits. I rattled in a pretty good 10 point one year ago today. That buck came to 17 yards. I passed on him.

On November 11th I killed a buck from the same tree. I didn't rattle this evening. I will rattle as soon as I have good shooting light in the morning.

I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to hunt here.

The other day I was thinking... Have I died and gone to Heaven? As a whitetail hunter I hope Heaven is like this and I get to experience it everyday.

I am fortunate and blessed to have 3 neighbors that let me hunt their ground in addition to our 63 acres. I told my wife the other day we are so lucky to have such great neighbors.

I am going to try to kill a good one, but if I don't kill anything I really dont care. I enjoy the process... scouting, game cams, food plots, setting stands, saddle hunting, watching the sunrises and sunsets. If I kill one it is just a bonus.

I hunted up the river about a mile this evening on my neighbors ground.

Two young bucks and two does so far this morning. I rattled and these two guys came to check out the fight.

                        Bucks in training.

Last picture is just a pretty Oak in fall color taken out of my tree.

Rattled again at 10:00. At 10:12 this little 6 point came in. All 3 bucks that came in to the horns came in 10-15 minutes after I rattled. Sometimes they will come in before you can put the horns down as nd sometimes 30 minutes after you rattle.

7 does and one fork horn tonight. I like the number of of does that are holding on us or close to us. The older age class bucks should start showing up soon. Not many mature day walkers yet.
