Huntsville sp squirrel hunt question

Was hoping to do the Huntsville sp squirrel hunt this year with my dad and brother. But iv been reading other threads about how it gets filled up pretty fast. Does anyone have any advice on how early I need to show up to get in line and do you have to have a annual public hunting permit? Also any other tips or info would be much appreciated.

I've been a couple times. Seems like I got there around 5 and never was a big line of folks. I do remember reading on here about someone getting turned away because it was full though. I think they do require the permit. Hope yall have a good time if you go!

Thank you I appreciate it haven’t had the whole family hunting squirrels since we were little boys hope to get a mess of squirrels for some dumplings.
