So get your rabies shots during the incubation period...once symptoms show, it's game over??

Ya know, I've heard of this all my life but never seen or read of a case / know what progression of the sickness is even like. Every story I know of first hand is like your boy...got bit, got shots & no positive cases. Is there any other medical action taken beyond the shots on a case that comes back positive??

Should have been a game warden issue. Animal Control just focuses on dogs and cats usually, atleast ours does. But either way someone should have helped.

Glad to hear your boy is doing fine so far!

I got bit as a kid as we were carrying one out of woods in a trap. Had to get my rabies vax as well. Fun stuff

I understand that if you get the full set of shots that you are good for life and dont need to worry about rabbies again.

Excellent news. Sorry he had to start the regimen for prophylaxis, but much better safe than sorry when Rabies is involved.

Glad to hear the raccoon was negative. We had one on our back sidewalk. He was just staring at me, he was still staring at me after my arrow went through him. He soon there after fell over dead.

Cute things, but not taking no chances.

Great news! Does this mean he doesn't have to finish taking the shots?

Correct, he doesn’t have to thought the doc told him if he finishes them, any additional exposure ever would just require a single booster.
