    Good Meat Grinder Recommendation

Does anyone have a specific meat grinder they recommend for personal use? I’d like to have something larger like a 1.5hp. I currently have a Cabelas Big Bite .75hp and it does well but I usually process around 6 deboned deer plus pork in one day and would like something a little larger/faster.

I would recommend LEM products for processing equipment. I am happy with mine. I always would recommend getting as big as you can afford. If I remember correct I got the #8 big bite with .5 hp. Took about 20 hours to do a pig and two deer. I did process it all on my own and it was my first time. I was changing recipes constantly also.

If your processing 6 deer a year, I would go with 1hp or bigger. I've heard good things about the big bite grinders. I'm currently using a LEM #8 which is plenty good for 2-3deer a year.

I have had a Cabelas 1.5 hp for 10 years and love it.

Same here. #12 Torrey I believe it is. Great grinders.

One thing ill say for certain, is buy a foot pedal if stuffing hamburger bags off the grinder. Its very nice to have.

Why is the LEM #8 big bite good for 2-3 deer a year? The wife and I average about 4-5 deer a year with pork mixed in. We do about 25lb batches every time we use it. Around February we will do about 100lbs of sausage and hamburger between my father n law and I and we have zero issues. Again, confused why it is only good for 2-3 deer a year.

It can definitely handle more than 2-3 deer, but if I was doing more than that, I would go with a bigger grinder.

1.0hp Cabelas here since 2012. Love it! Sucker is a grinding and stuffing machine. Quick and powerful. Buy more than you think you need. You’ll end up using it for more and more things as the years pass.

Same. We stuff around 200 pounds of sausage yearly, and the easiest bit is the grinder.

You could probably get away with it if you spaced it out and did one deer at a time. But for me doing 3 animals at once, man it took for ever. I may have had to call in sick, or call out sick, or use a sick day to finish the job just kidding.

Buy the biggest you can afford. 1 1/2 horse LEM #32 is an animal. But many already listed are good but I can’t stress enough to go bigger than you need. Any 1 1/2 horse will last a life time and won’t be under powered. I bought a LEM #8 10 years ago and burnt it up within 2 years. Wasn’t enough power for what I needed. I use it at my restaurant and run several thousand pounds through it per year. Pay once and cry once.

The Bearded butchers use a Meat #32 1.5hp on sale for 699.
