    Flying with a gun?

Do not use TSA locks. Combo or key. The rules are a quick google search away. It’s relatively painless to fly with a gun.

I’m doing both pheasant and deer in Iowa.

      Good luck on your hunt!

If you fly with TSA locks and they need to open it they will. If you choose to fly without TSA locks like I did, they will pull you out of line wherever you are make you go back to the front of the airport and open your gun case for them. It certainly your choice but I have gone back to TSA locks.

When I fly I use non tsa locks. I normally fly with two rifles and a pistol. I keep the ammo in the same case along with a knife. I remove the bolts, magazines and they have a place in the case. I also run a cable lock through each action. I also print out tsa’s rules and the airline’s rules and leave them in the case. The only issue I ever had was leaving dfw to come back to Seattle. They called me when I was at the gate and wanted to know my combo for the locks. I told them I would come open it and they said they will just break them off. I told the guy if he breaks them off he will be paying for the damage and the locks. They finally let me come and unlock it after I told him his rules for flying with a gun. It specifically states to not give out the combination.

Just flew this past week on Southwest and kept my ammo in the gun case with the 2 guns. Flying from Denver they had an employee take us and the gun to TSA area where they ran it thru a scanner while we stood outside the open door. Never asked to see inside and then gave it back to the employee to check it. Case was locked with my locks and not TSA locks.
