No difference in that it could blow black smoke before and after? Or doesn’t blow black smoke before and after?

Edit: or is that something the officers could have quickly checked at the scene?
He was "blowing black smoke" per the other cyclists. I'd bet a lot of money it's deleted.

Yes it is easy to check. Look under truck, straight pipe instead of the giant DPF canister. Inside the truck, likely a tuner mounted to the windshield or dash somewhere.

I wouldn't be shocked if he had a giant "HD" sticker in the back window too.

DEF doesn't, but removing the Diesel Particulate Filter certainly does. That's why you don't see newer stock diesels blowing black smoke.

Not true. On stock tune my truck is clean under wot. Tune #5 it will roll it.

The reason you don't see as many new ones blowing black smoke is because the people who can afford them are typically older and are more concerned about the warranty than how much power they can make. The "how much power can they make" crowd tends to be younger, and dumber...as this news story confirms.

New diesels are severely constrained by the DPF. If DPF wasn't required, I am positive we would have factory diesels with 2000+ ft-lbs and 700+ hp.

That’s the sole purpose of a DPF. Removing “particulates,” AKA Black Soot, from the air. Yes, some deleted trucks can still burn fairly clean depending on the tune. I was simply saying that the DPF does affect the amount of black smoke.

My deleted F-250 is pretty dang clean, but try rolling coal on a newer truck with the dpf still intact, tune or no tune. It definitely affects your “rolling coal” abilities. Lol

My current truck is deleted and will not roll coal. I can make it throw some black smoke if I really get in it.
But then again, Im 39, not 18. I prefer performance along with better fuel economy so mine rarely let's any black smoke go. I run a Smarty Jr on mine now.

On my ordered truck, I may delete it eventually. We'll see what happens with the EPA in the future but I will likely run EFI on it if I delete it. I will leave it factory until the warranty goes out.

                    Prayers for the families.

Rolling coal is a dead give away that the driver is suffering from the small penis syndrome.

What an awful tragedy for these cyclist. I was charged at 16 as an adult and arrested on the spot. Does this vary by county?

Man- you may have been arrested at 16 but were not immediately charged as an adult. That has to go through alot of BS in the courts.

It may vary by Country but not County.

Understood. Then I wonder why this fellow was not arrested at 16 for far much worse.

This is hearsay but the Waller County Sheriff has made it known he doesn’t like cyclists. I have to wonder if that has something to do with it.
