    hog hunting arrow broadhead

Hi all, getting ready for my hog hunt this weekend at BAO. Right now, I've got Muzzy 100's, 3 blades, but I'm thinking about picking some Magnus Stingers, 125 gr for the hunt.

Any opinions, advice, or experience out there on using Stingers on hogs?

    thanks,
    ghenghis

I would think either would be a fine choice. You cannot argue with the bone splitting ability of the muzzys and the stingers should get great penetration.

Nothing Wrong with Muzzy's, I say if it is not broke do not fix it.

        Why mix weights?
Any broadhead that cuts on contact is great for hogs...

Muzzy are not sharp out of the package

Most Muzzy will not cut a loose rubber band till you hand sharpen them

Also the original 4 blade Muzzy is a better choice or the Slick tricks They are all Steel and sharper than the Magnus Ask Sika

I would Opt for the Magnus 4 blades they are sharp enough out of the package to hunt with and they can be hand sharpened in the field if you have the right tools

They have spare replacment bleeder blades as well Listen to your guide OK?

          Call and ask him TINK

            thanks for the advice!

I'm currently sighted in at 125 grain heads. But I'm going to shoot in the broadheads tonite, so it doesn't matter muzzies at 100 or magnus at 125.

I think I'll try buying the Magnus Stingers with bleeders at 125 for a little more total arrow weight. Also, since I'm on the road right now, I don't have anything to sharpen the muzzies that have been sitting in my quiver for a coupla months.

I'll shoot the Stingers at the hogs and post a report after the hunt. Thanks to all!

I shot this hog last weekend with a Muzzy MX4 - complete pass through - hog went about 50 yards spraying a blood trail that Ray Charles coulda followed!

I've used muzzy's and been very happy. If they are shooting good, I wouldn't change a thing. Make sure the blades are sharp on whatever broadhead you go with and have a great time!

I've had a pass through on every hog Ive ever shot with the Muzzy's...3 blade, 4 blade and MX-4, 100 grains....been very happy with them...but Ive never used the Stingers, so I cant offer anything to you there.

I use the 3 blade 100 grain Muzzy shot two hogs after the shoot out last week, first one was a hair over 275# and the other was 210# the big one went 60 yards before taking a nap in the cactus. The other was a quartering away shot that hit the shoulder and went out through the neck cutting the jugular vein.love those Muzzys

I like the Magnus Stingers 4 blade 100 gr. for all animals, becasue we prfer to use cut on contact broadheads.

The extra 25 grains won't make any difference in penetration from a well tuned bow.

I'm not sure where Tink is coming from because I've got a 22 lb. turkey and a nice 11 point taken during 2006 that would have to disagree since I shot 'em both with a 100 grain 4 blade Muzzy - no sharpening necessary.

Magnus Stingers get my vote. I have been shooting them for a three years now and have only had one pig that they did not pass through. The only negative I can find is that they are all over the place if it is windy!
