And if that is right and we have a down year on resident birds, shouldn’t we expect a bad year all around as the migrators would have been the hardest hit with the freeze?

I've always thought resident birds spring, summer, fall here having babies and still migrate south in the winter. They just never or rarely go further north than their residency of choice.

So did the freeze kill our resident birds or were they safe in Mexico??

They don't have to go to Mexico City to migrate dupa. They can get caught...it was record cold all the way down to Mexico though....and some January/February warm weather will move some birds up to get caught. We saw dead dove at the deer lease when we went back to check water issues....so birds died in the cold.
Hell TPW said we lost birds to the freeze...take it up with them JFT.Last edited by Smart; 09-05-2021, 05:26 PM.
