I appreciate the great sentiment.
I only did what I, as a daddy, thought was what needed to be done. Every child is a child of God. I only say proper, because a man closer to God should have been the one to do it. He wasn’t handy, so I improvised and got it done.

I had the privilege or misfortune of baptizing my middle child in the hospital after she was born. We weren’t sure she’d live and the hospital minister didn’t seem interested. My brother in law had holy water in his truck so we talked the nurses in the NICU into bringing her out to the door where my wife, he, and my sister could whiteness it. She lived, and will turn 7 in a few days. I don’t regret it, happy I did, but wish it had been done by the proper person.

I’m pretty sure she was.

My wife was baptized by her grandmother as an infant, her father was not religious. Years later before we were married she was baptized again in church (were catholic). The priest just said “If you were never baptized…”.
