Not a mountain biker at all but my deer lease is mountain bike ranch during the off-season.... hundreds of those dudes out there ALL THE TIME from January to November
It kind of makes it like hunting in a zoo because they are so use to people all of the time
I have two - One eBike and it's a powerful - really not a bicycle anymore - MTB - Runs 40 mph and can break the oversized chain - shift delay control built into the center hub 2500watt Bafang motor - 58.8 volt Panasonic lithiums - the good Jap stuff.
The other is a 2.8 - mid fat tire Motobecane Fantam - boost spacing - tubeless and has the 6061 alum frame geometry to take a custom center drive e-bike setup, if I wanted to build a second e-bike with emerging electronic and motor systems
I ride everyday - and I mix between power and no power - not a spring chicken anymore but - weighing what I weighed at 20 years old - let's just say I'm not into riding for race or competition - I roll this instead of a motorcycle gaining fitness and freedom in one package.
1700 miles on the 6061 KHS alum framed - Bafang 2500w center hub engined MTB with it's second set of Ranger tires. No issues - and this setup is a tank - weighs nearly 80lbs - need that weight for how I ride (trials style - super slow - balance and climb/hop/jump) a riding style most MTB riders - can not do pedaling - I'm talking stop, lift front tire redirect - brakes locked down for pivot and control - release and continue - torque from the motor - first six gears - front tire off the ground
I zip across a fresh green light in town, on the back tire at times
Nice! But, I don't have 10k for a mtb. Let me know what you think of the trails out that way.
I ride a hardtail. Greens, blues and some blacks no problem. Just depends on what you want to do with the bike, but it's still 2k+. Shimano SLX is a bargain set right now, Marzocchi is a cheap quality fork. I'm not racing or doing enduro stuff, just single track for exercise.
If you need to throw over a leg before you buy I can recommend some models. Specialized, Salsa, Trek, Santa Cruz make good bikes.
This guy is good for bike builds. I recommend doing a build or at least modifying your bike to fit. Bikes aren't very well tailored and just changing a stem can really change your experience.
Yup - I ride and my 13 yr old daughter races in NICA. This will be her second season and I coach. We just moved away from Austin area and the only thing I miss is the abundant trails. Looking forward to another race season- maybe my 12yr old daughter will get the courage to race?
I ride a 2021 Yeti SB130 turq. My daughter is on a Trek Stache 9.7, but is ready for a full suspension....c'mon NICA discount!!!
I work in the industry and ride when my other hobbies aren’t in the way. It’s a bit crazy out there supply wise. Polygon isn’t bad for a starter bike, but ultimately there is a reason some bikes cost x while others cost y. All depends on what your looking for. If you have questions feel free to shoot me a message. I already tune a few bikes for a couple guys on this forum lol

Love seeing people involved in NICA!!!! Really was a big hit that the entire back half of Rocky Hill sold recently.
