I've seen one before but don't know what it is. I know it's not venomous.

Speckeled King snake. They eat mice and other reptiles. I had one as a pet for years, very docile snake.

I've lived in these woods for so long now and like to play with camera so much that I find myself looking for timber rattlers on purpose just to photograph.

deffinately one to let walk...or crawl.... Slither ??? Anyway it is a good one to have around... They are also known to pray on the venomous bad guys...
