With the way insurance companies are now days, who out there is concerned buying a truck with a salvaged title ("water damage")? I paid cash and could careless after looking the vehicle over, frame is excellent. No rust. The title was deemed salvaged around 2005. It's a 2002 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 Auto V6 Ext Cab with 205K miles. It runs and drives great, I daily drive it to my work (30 mile commute) frequently. AC/radio work great. Since owning I've replaced the LBJ's, tires, and starter. The interior is spotless and in good shape. What is she worth?

Prices have increased drastically over the past 9 months. I picked up a TACOMA TRD SPORT in January. The price for that same truck is up $7 to $9 grand more now. Saying all of that. It is literally a sellers market for a Tacoma! If you have had it for years and can prove it's reliability, I can easily see about $5500 to $6000 to the right buyer. It would make an awesome lease/weekend vehicle for someone!

I think the biggest issue is with trying to get it insured to be on the road. I looks at a salvage title once and my insurance company didn't want to put liability on it. Wrecked salvage wouldn't bother me as much as a flood though.. seems flooded vehicles wont fully show up their issues with electronics etc but for a ranch truck / lease etc $4k - $5k seems legit , so are you selling ?

I bought a salvage (wrecked) Nissan frontier earlier this year. Paid about 60% of what KBB was for a clean title. Just a point of reference. As the car gets older the salvage title will impact the value less and less (people assume a car with 250K - 300K miles have problems). If you are looking to sell it, I would recommend listing it for something high (maybe $8000) here and on craigslist. Give it three days, if you don't have any bites, come down $500 - $1000 and try again. When you hit your bottom dollar, pull the ad.
