    old rusty feeder fix

Yo - so i have an old rusty 55 gallon feeder with some holes in the bottom of it. Not large ones but several small ones maybe 3-4 inches long and 1 inch wide at most.

Any ideas on how to fix the holes and also to ensure that no new holes can be made by squirrels, coons, etc.?

26 gauge galvanized sheet metal cut to cover holes. Screw in place with sheet metal screws and seal with NP1 or similar sealant. Don’t use silicone it won’t last.

Might be easier to just replace the barrel itself

Hayek would say replace the barrel. The beauty is in the simplicity.

Where exactly are the holes? On the very bottom or sides towards the bottom? A galvanized funnel inside and caulked would solve any issues if the holes are below the funnels edge.

            1" x 3-4" long is not large?

Replace the barrell or install some flashing and seal with epoxy.

Get one of these to put in the bottom of the barrel and then fill the holes in the metal with spray foam or something to keep wasps out.

This durable funnel fits 55 gallon deer feeder barrels. Find high-quality hunting accessories for your feeders and more at Texas Hunter Products.
