Was at the deer feeder in San Saba. May be the same bird that took out a squirrel.

Looks like a cardinal, maybe young and not in full adult color.

Either a female cardinal or an immature male cardinal

Yep, cardinal. Bottom pic appears to be a hawk.

Is it just me, or does the first one look really hung over?

The second bird is a hawk of some sort.

Thinking same as WildThings on top, pyrrhuloxia
Pyrrhuloxia Similar Species to, All About Birds, Cornell Lab of Ornithology
https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Pyrrhuloxia/species-compare/
Similar looking birds to Pyrrhuloxia: Northern Cardinal Male, Northern Cardinal Female
Very similar, could easily be female cardinal too
2nd pic is definitely some kind of hawk but I can't tell from that picture what kind, possibly sharp shinned

This! Saw some on my place in San Saba. There is a difference between them and cardinals. Have seen them close together.

Yup. After browsing the Cornell handbook one morning (sits on the coffee table overlooking the bird feeder), we recently realized we've been misidentifying these as Cardinals for all these years. Oops.
