the thing I've found about exercising is that the more work I put into it, the less crap I want to put into my body so it makes eating better much easier for me. I'm not putting in all of this physical work just to screw it up by eating a bunch of junk. Now I have more energy, sleep better, headaches are gone, lower blood pressure and just feel so much better in general.

My Doctor told me to exercise or I will soon be rolling around instead of walking around. Hit the gym and started a workout routine. 1st few weeks I was so embarrassed at my lack of strength and stamina. I could only bench press 10 pounds at 2 set of 10. The guys at the lease pretty much helped me load my feeders as I had gotten where I could not do it ( I had a small stroke). I kept at it everyday and got to a point I didn't want miss my workout. Started seeing results then covid hit. Did some exercising at home. When the gym opened up I found I had not lost any strength and picked up where I left off. Last deer season I was proud that I did not need any help filling feeders. My bench press now id 70 pound at 3 sets of 10. Probably will be going to 75-80 pounds soon at 2 sets of 10. So keep up and you will begin to results and you will feel better. This is on the wall at the gym.

I just gave up sodas and started drinking water along with a 30 minute workout everyday. I just started having no energy and need to get the blood flowing again. Plus lose 30-40 lbs. Good luck and stick with it.

            Congrats, sir! That's good progress.

Good for you. It's the start that stops most people, including myself. If I ever get past the first few days, I can usually stick with it until I reach my goal.

                    Awesome! Keep after it MrRuss.

Ive always considered exercising or not exercising habitually like a “tire rut”. Its super easy to fall into the rut of no exercise and stay there.

                    Beefcake!

By saying I'm not going to be a gym rat I mean I am not going to spend all my free time at the gym- I live 20 miles from the gym and have things to do at home- I have horses to feed every day, fences to keep up, and other things that need taking care of when you live in the country along with four deer leases I try to keep things done on, after I commit 10 or more hours/day M-F to my job....you know like about 90% of the folks on here. Yes, my health situation would seem to point to me being more serious about exercise and with my resting blood sugar improving since I began I see the benefit such that maybe I can exercise myself out of my Type II diabetes. I am hoping by beginning now I can get into the routine so that when I do retire I will keep it up. I am thankful that my wife and I have someone that loves us enough to push us into beginning this because it is obvious that we weren't going to start this on our own. Of course, misery loves company and she didn't want to do this by herself, so we joined with her...

I go to the gym right after work so I change in the locker room. The first thing my friend told me when she saw me dressed for my workout was to tell me I had my shirt on backwards. Then she asked me when I was going to get some shoes that weren't from the 80's...she must have thought she was babysitting a four year old...

My step son owns House of Gains in Georgetown and has been a gym rat his whole life, He wins most of the body building contests he enters for his age group. I could go for free but don't. I've done yoga for over 20 years and it makes a world of difference. I'm 71 and worked outside all day today, no problems. If the gym work outs don't work out then you may want to check out yoga. The book "Yoga for Men" is a good start.
