    Krivoman Directional

Anyone ever have their unit sound like it was barely throwing? I heard mine the other night and it sounded like it was barely turning. I went down to the feeder this am and changed the battery. No Luck! I got a stick and cleared some corn out of the shoot to see if that would help and nothing. I set it off one more time and the impeller fell off. I guess it just loosened up to the point that the shaft was spinning inside the impeller. My question is- have any of you put the impeller back on and tightened the set screw with it attached to the feeder? It is a good ways back to the shaft and with the baffles on the front it could be tough. Taking it off isn’t an option as it’s a huge feeder full of feed. Also with the baffle system I don’t see where it would help. I am going to go purchase a longer extension to use on my screwdriver. Any help is appreciated!!! TY!

Long screw driver and stuffed a rag in the corn chute while I was working on it in case I dropped the screw. Piece of cake.

It you had some bad corn with a lot of dust it will accumulate on the motor shaft and impact how well it throws. I had this happen and had to replace the motor.

Sorry, ADHD prevented me from finishing the paragraph. I had an impeller fall off once, as Smart suggested, plug the chute with a wrag and a long Phillips screw driver will get it. I used a small dab of blue loctite when I reinstalled it. Make sure you’re on the flat spot on the motor shaft as well.

Thanks for the info! I am going to either go purchase a long screwdriver or an extension for my ratchet driver. I was wondering what you guys used to get ahold of the impeller(long magnet) to put it back on and did y’all use something to hold the shaft while tightening? I just want to be prepared when I go down there to fix it and also be able to pickup whatever else I may need while I’m at Lowe’s. Thanks!

I took the varmit guard off.

The impeller is Aluminum, so need something to physically grab it if you aren’t taking the guard off.

Once the guard is off it’s easy to get it back on.

Here’s a pic of mine when it fell off. Just a few self taping screws hold the guard on, then a Phillips screw driver to tighten. Just roll the shaft to where the flat spot lines up with the screw.

You just need a regular screwdriver. You can remove that baffle/varmint guard, it's just held on by a couple screws and some painted caulk. That will give you much better access. If you have an older model, you probably have the older model of spinner. Mitch has replaced those with a fully welded version. On the older spinners, there is a screw holding the spinner onto the collar, and then a set screw holding the collar onto the arbor. Check both. Make sure you get that set screw onto the flat spot on the arbor.

Thanks guys! I didn’t realize that the baffle would come off. I didn’t have much time to look at it this am before work. I just knew that it was a long way back there to get to the impeller and shaft. Thanks Again- You guys Rock!!!

I have had this one for several years and never mounted it to my big feeder. The one I have is green and seems to be a lot heavier than the old counter weight version I had of Mitch’s.

Thank You guys so much! It was exactly as you described it. No special tools required. I took off the guard and easy access. I tightened up the set screw and checked the one on the impeller and it was good. All is good this evening as I just heard it throw and it sounded great. Thanks Again!!!
