Guides want knockdown. Break them down so they don’t get to the thick brush. They don’t really bleed much. They certainly aren’t Bullet proof. But can absorb some serious lead. 308 will work. Lots die at night with thermals and a 6.8 SPC. But they shoot them in the neck. If the option to go bigger is there it’s recommended. But not absolutely necessary. It’s impressive how tough they are.

100% , they need a hole in one side and a bigger hole on the other , not much goes far with two broken shoulders and no lungs
Coyote bait isn’t putting money in someone’s pocket so most classic nilgai hunts
      Want a .300 - .375 h&h punching those holes

On the youth hunt last year one of the other hunters took a bull with a 308 AR to the chest with a frontal shot. It dropped as expected. I made the mistake of switching out my son's 308 he practices heavily with for my 300 WSM because I read all the need a big gun talk. I'll always regret that lesson learned.

Think that pretty much sums it up.

I have killed two bulls with a .308 and Barnes TSX 168. Both shots tucked right behind the shoulder, around 120yards, not a ton of blood, no exit, but neither bull went over 200 yards.

This is the most usable diagram I’ve seen.
