Any of y’all ever pick up Hitchhikers?

Haven’t picked any hitchers up. I have stopped to help stranded motorists. One day I was headed to pick up Ag parts and noticed a pickup pulled over onto the shoulder of a rural highway. It had a flat tire and the driver was sitting in the hot cab with the window open. Made a mental note that if he was still there on my way back I’d stop. About an hour later I was coming back through and the man was sitting in the same spot so I pulled behind and turned my hazards on. Walked up to the driver and asked if I could help him. He was probably close to 70 and was sopping wet with perspiration. Asked him how long he’d been waiting on somebody to stop and help. To which he replied, “about four hours”.
He had been attempting to change the flat tire with a spare when his jack sank into the hot asphalt. I put my jack under there and got the spare tire on. During our conversation he mentioned that he was headed to see his mom in a nursing home when the tire blew out. Not one person had stopped during the four hours he’d been sitting there with a flat and he didn’t own a cell phone to call for help.
