    Cedar stays

Where can I buy some cedar stays near Joshua?

There's a place on I-20 west of Weatherford that has cedar posts. I would imagine they'd have some staves too. Don't know the name of the business though.

Make sure they are the right species of cedar, or they will rot out very quickly
I think eastern cedar is the one to avoid

I believe there is a place in Meridian just northwest of the Hwy 6 intersection.

Look at the core. Get the staves that have a larger red center. More red = better cedar I’m told.

I understand that cedar harvested west of I-35 is better western juniper / mountain cedar is best for fence

                    Go to Mackeys !
Freshest cut and best price by far.
They will have 1,000 on hand too.

Actually. Eastern red cedar will generally have a greater percentage of heart wood per diameter than western. I believe it's in the neighborhood of 80% vs 60%. I have eastern cedar that's been going strong, in the ground, for 23 years. Pulp wood will eventually rot off all cedar, but the heart is like iron and will outlive you in eastern or western. Western will probably be cheaper, not sure in the current environment, and generally will be a lot less straight. I'd not hesitate to use either. Dealers in western will claim it's better and vice versa.
