Putting a flatbed on a 1/2 ton ?

The fabricator, says he would use treated 2x6 to trim weight over
A metal deck, I did this on a Jeep j10 truck , worked out good

A square foot of treated 2x6 weighs more than a square foot of 1/8” diamond plate. If he’s wanting to trim a little weight have him utilize the factory towing package instead of having to fab one up on the back.

I put one on my Toyota Tacoma ranch truck. It handles it well, I'd think a 1/2ton would be fine.

This is funny. With this comment I was going to say I wish I had a pic of the flat bed tacoma that was at my neighbor's shop a few weeks ago.

I put a clutch in my 96 taco the last week of June in Hempstead and every time I walked by this truck I wished I had the bed.
