    Any Questions about hunting Missouri?

I am no expert and 99% of my hunting was on public land (Conservation Areas), but I love talking and mentoring. Anything I can share to help the learning curve is just fun to talk about. Like sitting around the campfire.

If you never hunting Missouri and are thinking about it. Fire away. Or PM me. I will be more responsive than I have been in the past. TBH has helped me in the past get into this sport....and even with many things not related to hunting. So it is time for me to give back and spread my bad habits to others that are hungry for knowledge. LOL I have 36 years of hunting experience and 16 yrs of bowhunting experience. And there are 1000 better hunters on TBH than me. But I have time in the woods of Missouri so I figure I should share.

If you ever want to reach out to me feel free. I owe it to TBH.

Lee's Summit! I lived and worked in Grandview for 11 years.
Hunted near Warsaw many times but actually saw the larger bucks in Southern Grandview off of 105. Probably all residential by now. Fun times hunting in Missouri.

One of the best bow leases I've ever been on was in Morgan County just outside Gravois Mills. We had multiple 150's or better every year with the occasional 165+ several years in a row

Yes. There are some monsters in and around Grandview. Lived there and south of there for years.

People just don't understand how amazing it is to be in the woods the first 2 weeks of November in Missouri. I love hunting north of the Missouri River. You just never know what might show up. Bucks that are on trail cams all year might disappear but other bucks just pass through looking for love.

Great question and one that makes most Missouri resident hunters very angry.

Non-resident Archery tags are over-the-counter or OTC. $265 buys you 2 either-sex tags and 2 turkey tags.

What is an either-sex tag? You can legally shoot 2 deer of either sex. Yes, you can shoot 2 bucks. BUT.....You can only shoot 1 buck before rifle season. You can shoot a doe at any time, but that 2nd buck would have to wait until after rifle season. Also - recently they modified the rule to only 2 bucks through any combined harvest. So 1 in archery and 1 in rifle, means that you can't take a 3rd buck during archery season after rifle season.

It is important to note. You can hunt with your bow during rifle season (usually the second half of the rut), but you can not use archery tags during the rifle season. Yes....you need your rifle tag (another $265) if using your bow during the rifle season. This is important as many Conservation areas are Archery Only. So you can hunt them during rifle with your bow but you must have a rifle tag. Confused yet?

There is TONS of public land in Missouri. They call them Conservation Areas. There is also CORE land (short for USACE land adjacent to some of the man made lakes.

We're looking into Missouri for 2022. No way we'll draw KS 3 years in a row!

We live 8 miles north of the Iowa/Missouri state line in SE Iowa. I have scouted Rebel Cove Conservation Area for some friends in Texas that are going to hunt there. There are some nice bucks in Rebel Cove. It is 11 miles from our house.

This is very interesting...I will be in south MO next week with quite a few trips planned in the fall.

MO is shorter drive for me than the South Texas brush and since my elk hunt was nixed by knee issues...?

If you are hunting Rebel's Cove Conservation Area you are basically hunting Iowa with a Missouri tag. It is right on the border. The Chariton River that flows thru the heart of some of Iowa's prime whitetail habitat flows thru Rebel's Cove. The deer don't know about or care about the state line. Rebel's Cove is 4200 acres.

Oh, I get it. Northern Missouri is the cheapest and OTC Iowa hunt you will every have. People in Missouri know it and try to stay hush hush. I LOVE LOVE hunting north of the Missouri River.

Everyone thinks IOWA. And I don't care what you think about the Drury's, but they made their name in NE Missouri.
