The Big 12 has had four teams bolt - Nebraska, Colorado, Mizzou, and A&M. All but Colorado to the PAC were for greener pastures, the same move Texas and OU are looking to make now. When Nebraska took the Big 10 spot, Colorado got nervous they would be on the outside looking in realignment and they jumped on the PAC 12. Same way some schools are looking in the Big 12 now. The SEC wanted new TV markets and took Mizzou and A&M (after Texas said no, it has been documented so do not get upset). In the end, the SEC taking Mizzou and A&M probably had more to do with the Big 12 disbanding than anybody. Now they get to take the Big 12 two bell cows and bring them over to their conference. They are looking pretty smart right now if this was their long game.
People like to bring up the LHN but the truth is, other teams in the league voted not to do a revenue share including Nebraska and A&M (not sure on CU or Mizzou without spending time on it) because they were making good money on their 2nd and 3rd Tier Rights. Texas tried to sell the league on a conference network, everyone said no, so Texas did it on their own taking advantage of their 2nd and 3rd rights. So why is it Texas fault? The Big 12 probably still exist if the 4 members never left.
Hell I wish Texas was as big and bad as everyone thinks they are.
