lab or german shephard. both are great kid dog companions and can be plenty aggressive if needed. would not get a rottweiler or similar if out in the country running loose. I had one with a good bloodline, was a natural herd dog, but poor country dog

Irish Wolfhound. A guy had two on a ranch in McKinney and said they were great in the house (big kids) and corrrectedd his coyote problem as well.

I like labs. very loyal, very protective, and very friendly with family. downside about labs, they require a lot of your attention.

                          In regards to the Mals:

These require alot of time, and you need to know what you're doing with them.

Don't know from experience, but thought about getting one myself and our local Sheriff (who used to run K-9) told me this. He suggested against it, but to each his own.

I'll add, he also didn't leave out the fact that they are phenomenal animals.

*Just realized you run a kennel so... yeah. Cheers!

We have 2 Great Danes and love them. Big and goofy. They’ve never been tested but I hope they’d be protective if the time came. They sure have the dental equipment necessary for the task.

Get you a real Staffordshire Terrier. Compact magnum. 50-60 pounds of Staffy is all you need. They don't get along with other dogs, and aren't normally good watchdogs, as they don't bark a lot and are generally friendly to all humans. Mine killed snakes, hogs, bobcats, coyotes and any small vermin it could catch.
