Dealing with losing a good dog.

    Sorry but I don't have a response to your question except maybe get a new dog, knowing it will not "replace" but perhaps open a new chapter.

    I had to put down my best friend and hunting companion of 14 years (GSP) over 10 years ago and I still tear up a bit when speaking of or thinking too much about. Time helps, but its like losing a relative. Am teared up now, typing this.

      I don't want to replace my dog after 1.5 years because I don't want to have to deal with loosing another dog or having to train one. My expectations are really high after my last dog so I'm afraid a new one wont meet expectations. Plus I like sleeping and not being woke up at the crack of dawn.
