If you don’t get drawn on any youth then be sure to take him to Chaparrall for the doe hunts. Usually the first 3 weekends of November so he will still be 16 and I have never seen them turn away a standby and I have been at least a dozen times over the years with son and nephews. In fact this is the first year I won’t be going. Youngest nephew turned 17. A little bummed. Need to find a kid off the street(LOL).

TYHP I believe will still take a 16 yr old so that’s a great option. Quality program.

Lol we borrowed the neighbor kid last year and my buddy went to chaperon him, it was awesome. But yeah, my kiddo drew the Chap doe hunt a few years back and they took in like 25 standby kids, all who showed up. So it seems to be an almost guaranteed hunt. On that note if you have a really young kid who'll be able to build points you may avoid burning points applying for the Chap doe hunt and just go standby.
