So, with my wife backing off National bikini competitions and babies in the near future, we decided to bypass September archery elk next year and use the money towards a blow out hunt of a lifetime for both of us. Alaska drop hunt for caribou 2022 in the northern brooks range during mid September. Over my birthday actually. Got the text from our outfitter this am and he said that they turned down the bill to limit caribou in this area and they are good to go. So, it’s all booked up with signed contract and deposit. Gonna be a lot of planning, gotta upgrade a few items like my tent, but it’s on! Wife is beside herself. 7-10 days in a tent in Alaska chasing caribou and eating fresh fish out of the local waters has her over the moon! Game plan is for her to take her custom 7WSM that she is more than capable stacking rounds out to 600 and I’m gonna take the bow. However, if the bow ain’t working or if the right caribou comes along out of bow range, I’m grabbing that rifle.
Now, we discussed a lot of options. Relaxation vacay in Tahiti or bora bora, fishing trip, Argentina dove hunt since I’ve done it but she hasn’t, and Africa. But she said none of those fit us. She wasnt looking for pampered luxury’s accommodations and we don’t go on hunts based off of comfort. So, I guess we are going 180 degrees the other direction. We’ve both always wanted to see Alaska and get that experience so this trip will absolutely check multiple boxes for us!
Excited. Utterly excited!
