Why stay in Corpus as opposed to Port A or North Island? That's just a man made beach on the bay.

Fishermans Daughter in Aransas Pass is about the best seafood there is IMO. Rockport beach is very nice too especially with little ones. If you have a 4x4 and the time, a trip to PINS is well worth it if you have not been.

We stayed in Corpus last year and went to Whitecaps/Bob Hall area. Did drive miles S down the beach and let the kids swim. Never went to Rockport/Aransas Pass but will put Farmers Daughter on the list! Thanks.

If you are trying to stay under $200 a night, you probably won't be able to stay on the island. Maybe North Beach or possibly on SPID somewhere.

Found several places <$200 on the island, between Whitecaps & Mustang.
              Just debating on other places.

USS Lexington for sure. They played background music that’s from that era as well. Really takes a person back.

Booked a place on the island at Corpus.

I have Penns and Ambassadors w 17-20# test.

What hooks, leaders, baits to catch "anything" ?

And where do I throw em, lol ?

                  In the salty water, obviously.

carolina rig. live mullet or piggies using a 5/0 or 6/0 wide gap
double drop leader with fish bites and dead shrimp 2/0 owner light circle hook
toss in the first or second guts depending on tide.
A cast net should provide enough bait but there are plenty of bait houses nearby.

And.... I don't care what we catch. Hell, I wouldn't know what it is or if it was legal or even edible, lol.

Just looking to burn 3-4 hours with Ethan (8 yo) fishing.

                        Prob only take 2-3 rods.

Just enough to say we fished in the ocean. He'd be tickled w a gar! Or at least he is when he catches them on Texoma.

If y’all don’t mind riding in a 16’ John boat I’d be willing to shuttle everyone to a spoil island that’s loaded with sea shells. I can only carry two passengers at a time, and don’t have any child life jackets but can cover the adults.

Let me know if this is something y’all would like to do and I’ll set it up.

My wife and I ate at Fisherman's Daughter a fews years ago based on a similar recommendation as brushtrooper's. We were very disappointed. The main dishes we had were just okay, but the sides were cold and looked like the previous day's leftovers that had sat out all night and then weren't reheated. Maybe our bad experience was the exception and they are normally very good, but we won't be back to find out. Just sharing my experience, would be interested what your experience is like if you end up trying them out.

We also hit up Scuttlebutt's every trip to the Corpus area. There is often a wait during peak hours as they seem understaffed, but we love their happy hour for awesome sushi rolls and beer.

Trust me on this. Port Aransas is the spot. Y'all can catch whiting all day in the surf on light tackle and fish bites.

By "in the surf", do you mean actually wading out there like waist deep or staying on dry land/sand and chunking em out there?

                                Surf vs bay? Surf=ocean, bay=bay?
