That's the hill country, west tx and south tx is the same. I've hunted places in all and the deer will literally follow the truck like cattle. But not all deer are the same especially east and north.

...put the charger on a timer to come on once a week...

Mine has a switch to turn the whole pack on or off. It has to be "on" in order to charge the pack.
I'm not sure if I'll get more leak down by leaving it on and then setting a weekly timer or if it's better to leave it switched off if I'm away for several weeks at a time.

What do you think?

If you have a disconnect it may not be needed. I didn’t put a disconnect on mine and it does have a small draw on it somewhere.
