If y'all are having problems with the insurance company... tell them you will be filing a complaint with TDI. they will probably change their tune.

Here is my experience , in a similar situation but does not answer your question.

Rear tire blow out, trashed rear fender and rear bumper. filed claim
3 days later , major hail storm. second claim

had to pay TWO deductibles because it was two separate instances

of course I worked it out with the body shop but the insurance was very clear it would require two deductibles

Determine the FMV of your vehicle in pre hail/wreck condition. That is what the first claim should pay. If the Insurance company wants to pursue the second claim then let them have the headache.

I assume the hail damage will total the truck. I want to buy it back and have the second company repair the damage their driver did to it.
