I may not be a big fan of the current "Commander in Chief", but feel we must give credit where credit is due. From the top down this operation was a success. Patience is a virtue. In this case it worked out for the good guys.

Given the go ahead, plus good planning and operational control, once again our well trained forces solved this problem.

Glad it turned out well. I would have to agree that the captain has been in imminent danger, since the pirates showed up on his ship. These pirates are out of control, and have been for a while. As long as there is money in piracy/kidnapping, they will continue. The world needs to come down on these guys, enough is enough. God bless our troops.

Great news and a super Easter present for the Captain and his family. I have to agree that if it looks like a pirate ship and smells like a pirate ship it should be sunk like a pirate ship.

the 4th is claiming to be a 16yo kid and just trying to get money for food? he was on board the Bainbridge making a phone call to his family to check in, and get medical aid for a stab wound to his hand. hes in custody on the ship now.

This absolutely made my day! Kudos to the Seal shooters for doing what needs to be done more often.

Just wish they would make the other one walk the plank or drag him behind the destroyer on the tow rope and see if he can produce a "topwater bite".

I'm glad the Navy Seals are on our side and that the people in charge kept their cool. Glad the captain is back safe and sound.

Glad the pirates are now shark food.

This whole thing really chaps my hide!

Why did they wait till day 5?

I also hear "they" said that the US should expect the same kind of treatment that we showed them, from now on. I think this should be considered an ongoing threat, and like Bowanta said, anything that resembles a pirate ship, should be SANK. This kind of crap needs to stop!

I don't know what was the distance, but I heard on the radio this morning that there were 3 snipers who shot almost simultaneously from the destroyer to the moving (waves I assume) target during the dark of night.....3 shots 3 kills at a moving target in the dead of night......these are some bad arse guys. I'm also assuming that since one of them had a AK pointed at the captain, that these were head shots that would immediately incapacitate the kidnappers! Wow again.

I think Steven Segal should star in the movie. Glad all americans are safe now.

I read this morning that the distance was 75 feet. That seems pretty short, even for a boat being tied with a tow rope. Perhaps it was a typo and they meant 75 yards.

In either event, really, this is kind of cheating for SEAL snipers. They should have let the tow rope out to at least 100 yards - or if they were going to shoot at 25, they should have used a bow with a hog light.
