The tour is way bigger prior to Covid. Last weekend they had a live band and a food truck me everything was really good. But as far as restaurants go the Sunken Gardens is really good home cooked food almost directly across from the brewery it used to be a dance hall years ago.

Kloesels’s is best place to eat within 50 miles of Shiner. I’m from Flatonia and we go there when down there.

              yeah they are good too.

do they still charge by the pound? that goes well with my plan of eating half the food on the buffet line before i get back to the table with my plate.

They do still charge by the pound and are only open for lunch on the weekdays. Shiner BBQ is open Wed-Sat for lunch and is pretty darn good. Mary's Tex -Mex will be open in their new location by end of summer I believe.
Gonzales has some tours and a nice museum which is only about twenty miles up the road.

Take the tour but Howard’s is a must do while you are there.

Baker Boys was good. They are Luling boys but store is in Gonzales.

If you go to Kloesel’s, get the fried mushrooms.
