I’d look at Jasper for a rebuilt or a recycled one from a wrecking yard

Not many people rebuild standard transmissions anymore, most all shops in the Temple/Waco area wouldn't do it, I ended up going to Standard transmission in Clifton, they rebuilt my NV5600, was around $2500 ish, a few years ago, it came with a warranty

There are people around that build the ZF 5 spds. There is a 42 and a 47. If it's a diesel pretty much count on the bellhousing being cracked, which will require another used case. I just built one a few months ago. Most every diesel ZF 5 spd I have ever built had a cracked. The gasoline engines don't have that problem. Then if it has a dual mass flywheel, count on having to replace it and the clutch. Then possibly the clutch hydraulics and possibly the bushings in the pedal assembly. I have done a few of these over the years.

The last one I worked on, I did all of what I mentioned, except for the dual mass flywheel.

                Important.

I had a Jeep one time that went "clunk" putting into gear. Took it to shop because I was out of town a lot at that time.

Told me it was hydraulics. Which one? Don't know we replace as a set. Cost? Reply $275
Still went clunk into gears. Took it back.

Must be clutch. Cost? Reply $275
I ask, what does the set cost. $125. So, I stated; The hydraulics cost $125 plus labor, the clutch cost $125 and labor. The hydraulics was basically 4 bolts and 2 nuts. The clutch is pull transmission/transfer case, 2 driveshafts and you do turn/face the flywheel? Yes.
                Replace clutch, that's a bargain.

Still went clunk. Took it back.

3 days later it was $3.79 pedal bushing. Then they had the gaul to want $250 for labor.

                Moral; check all bases.
