A little storm system passed thru last night. It's 45 degrees this morning. Feels like fall.

We have had a couple of days up in the mid 80s. This feels good !!

If you ever get a chance travel west towards sioux city/sioux falls thats where the rolling hills and tall praire land starts its drop dead gorgeous in the fall when the grass turns red in the Loess Hills. Growing up on our farm we used to find native america stuff in the hills and found a couple rusted colt pistols from when irish cowboys roamed the area.

Mike your place is gorgeous, congrats on the move!
Ahh Iowa State, my brother graduated from there in 2008 or 2009. I remember visiting when that town was such a small Iowa town. I drive through there now, and I usually have to cancel the cruise control. It's brutal LOL

You are right about Sioux Falls, the first time I drove through there, I couldn't believe a place like that existed in Iowa/South Dakota.

            Looking good buddy!

I've almost moved to Wyoming a couple times, but I have trouble leaving the coast. Something about the saltwater keeps me here.

              I don't mean to be bragging.[emoji846]

I will be honest. I would have never landed here if if wasn't for my wife. The first time I visited Iowa with her I told her I could live here.

We started talking about buying land up here. She encouraged me to buy the place standing on the side of the gravel road after only walking the place for a few minutes. She pushed me to retire and sell out in Arlington when I didn't think we could afford it. She stood strong during the winter of 2019 living in our camper while we finished the interior.

I would definitely not be here without her.

Here is the You Tube video where I found this place back in the fall of 2009. The video titled Iowa 60 acres is still on You Tube. It turned out to be 63.46 acres although we only paid for 60.[emoji106] You will recognize this view (now from our porch) when the land agent mentions a possible building site and power available at the road. We thought about several different locations for the house, but we ended up going with the spot he mentioned.

Awesome !!! I have not traveled west of Des Moines. I want to go over and see the Loess Hills one day.

I went with the Mossburg Patriot in
.450 Bushmaster. I haven't killed a deer with yet, but I killed a hog down in Texas back in March. 140 yard shot with 250 grain Hornady Black. It wrecked that piggie.[emoji106][emoji1]

I bought it at Skunk River Arms in Haysville, Iowa. Dan is great to deal with and they have a huge inventory of firearms.

You will be coming right by us. We are right off Hwy 63. Eight miles north of the Iowa/Missouri state line. Stop by and visit. I will PM you my phone and Google maps coordinates. We shop in Kirksville about twice a month.

What is the average price per acre?

                            Comment

Good for you. I left 2 years ago after living in Texas all my life.

The MSA of Houston has more people than the entire state of Missouri.

I bought 200 acres on a river that looks like it is in new braunfels for less than 20 acres in harris county.

Texas will go blue by 2028.

The only thing I miss is the mexican food and friends.

                              They can keep the rest.

We paid $1500 an acre in 2009. When I first saw the place on a You Tube video it was listed at $2500 an acre. Two weeks later I watched the video again and there was a banner lowering the price to $1500 an acre. My wife and I flew up met the seller and bought it on the spot. We paid $1500 x 60 acres = $90,000. When we got the survey we found that we actually owned 63.46 acres. I asked the seller why the price reduction? He said he and his business partner need some cash flow. I was lucky that I watched the video again.

I am not sure of the prices at this time. I am sure like everything else they have increased.

Here is the original You Tube video.
