    Wyoming Deer ????

Buddy did not draw his Kansas tag so he is in a funk. I told him that the deer draw in Wy is June 1st and he still has time. I have never hunted deer in Wyoming but one time in the 90's so I am sure things are different. Anybody have any thoughts or ideas I could pass onto him would be appreciated.

Most areas and region tags need PP to draw , but not all.
Good bucks can be found all over the state but some areas are work.
We have whitetail only tags too.

While PP are needed for most areas, Wyoming does put some tags in a random draw.

Look over the draw odds and pick an area that you might draw with your PP, even if none.
Here are the draw odds for 2020: https://wgfdrawdocs.azurewebsites.ne...nts_NonRes.pdf

After you find an area look on the Hunt Planner map to see how much public land is available to hunt : https://wgfd.wyo.gov/Hunting/Hunt-Pl...onresident-Map

A General license in a Region is valid for every general area in that region, not valid in LQ areas within the region.

Eastern side will have areas that can be drawn with 0 PP. Access may be limited but good public ground can be found to hunt.
Archery seasons are not near as busy and most are all of Sept. If not successful you can hunt rifle season also on same license. Archery season needs the OTC archery license with your deer tag, buy it after you draw.

kerrbow look at my Wyoming management thread in Game Management, it shows some terrain you may find in a region that can be drawn with 0 PP. My thread is on private ground but the whole area looks like that ranch pretty much.

Thanks brother. I know that Wyoming has some bruiser whitetails as I missed a hoss in 1998 west of Wheatland.

That is a neat place. Probably not far from where I messed up. Just east of the place where they do the black footed ferrets.

The ranch shares a fence with what was the ferret breeding facility, Sybille Research facility, my spouse worked on that project for years also.
Any chance you hunted the Whitetail Ranch ? Met that guy last week.

That is a Region tag that can be drawn with 0 PP. Muleys and whitetail are around for archery season.

Wow, at 73 yrs old I can barely remember last week, lol. I just remember it was a fairly small ranch with a nice creek full of brown trout in it. From the highway to the bluff above the creek was about 1/2 mile. North side of the highway and kind of open terrain. As I recall the breeding facility the canyon narrowed down as we went west from the ranch. I should have taken pics. Think the rancher had some kin in Estes Park where we lived.

Sounds like the Christinck ranch or Myra Hanna. Sybille Cr still has great brown trout fishing, hoping to hit it this weekend.

Anyway that tag can be drawn with 0 PP for your friend, not a guarantee but good odds.
