I actually use (2) insoles per boot. I then wear (2) pairs of socks. This combination snugs my feet so well they feel like tennis shoes. I also wear the Timberland Pro lace ups.

This is the way to go, OP! When I was in HFD fire school my burn partner had a spiral fracture in his left leg, just above the ankle (tib or fib, I forget which). He limped really bad and morning PT was brutal on him. After about a week of enduring the pain as best he could, he went to see a podiatrist there in Houston somewhere. He got some custom, prescribed insoles for his running shoes and was able to keep going until it healed. I think he said they were between $200-300, and worth every penny.

X2. Custom orthotics are the only way to go.

I have Superfeet in all my shoes and boots.

Some of the internet insole sellers have filters that help you with your selection as different activities and foot problems require a different mixture of support and padding.

If you try an off the shelf insole and it doesn't work, you will need to look at custom and that is a much more expensive option.
