My tracking dog just got her second rattlesnake vaccine shot today but would love to get her through this class as well.

Just a FYI on the rattlesnake vaccine. The dog should get it a month before possible exposure to rattlesnakes. I take my lab in August 1st each year for her yearly exam. That way she has some immunity by September 1st

Thanks for the tip! This is my first time getting it and just had it done during annual vaccinations out of convenience

I have heard extremely varied results with the vaccine, my vet recommended the avoidance over the vaccine

I tell all my clients to get the vaccine and the training. The training goes a long way to avoid a bite but is never a sure thing. I tell everyone who might be listening, "Train to avoid a bite, vaccinate in case of a bite.

Another thing that can help your dog is to have plan A and plan B. Know where you're going after a bite. Make sure the vet you pick in the area of your hunt is 24 7 bite care facility. Finding a 24 hour bite facility after a bite just wastes more time and more damage to the dog. Call that facility, speak with the vet. Let him advice of things you need to do before transporting. If you have a good solid plan, your dog has the vaccine, you get to the correct vet quickly and safely, you have provided the absolute best chance for your podna to survive.

She was given it in two doses, kinda like the Covid vaccine. She got one with her annual vaccinations and then I came back 2 weeks later for the second. I've noticed no reactions at all.
