IF it ran fine , then didn't I would look at the fuel filter, then the fuel lines as they can collapse and the primer bulb...sounds like its starving for fuel.

I'd test for spark at the plugs as well.

That is what it did holds 18 gallons I topped off with about 2 gallons on way to lake ran good early then fell on it's face that afternoon. I have good spark so moving on to the fuel and line. Just replace the fuel filter water separator end of last season.
