My dad has 4 12X14 roll up doors at his house, never had a single problem with them in 20 years. If installed right they are flawless. Like others have said it makes it a lot easier with your lighting, and if you wanted to put some ceiling fans in there.

Also go ahead and insulate it. It will be miserable in there during the summer without it, and so loud in the rain you won't want to be in there.

Went with 2 10x10 insulated paneled garage doors with openers in our 30x50x12 and they’ve been great. Comfortable when closed in the cold and excellent cross breeze when needed.

I have the same size shop. I went with a roll up and don't mind it. It is a little noisy on a windy day but not a big deal at all. As others have mentioned add insulation!! I went with standard instead of spray for price and if any repairs had to be made in the future. I also added a large fan that I mounted on the back wall up high. It does real well to circulate air during the summer.

I have (2) 12x12 and (1) 10x12 insulated overhead doors in my 40x60 and wouldn't change a thing. My FIL has roll ups in his and they are hard to roll.

Mine is a 30x50 with a 16x14 overhead on one end and a 10x10 roll up on the other end for air flow. I also added two windows on one side and a window and man door on the other. I thought I would use the man door more but it is easier to just hit the clicker and open the overhead. The overhead does block 1 light when open the full 14 foot, but I usually just stop it at around 12 foot if I am going to turn the lights on. FYI You can buy several roll ups for the price of larger commercial overheads. Especially if you want a nice opener...

I'd go with the garage style doors. We have 3 roll ups on our barndo and they don't seal up tight vs my buddy's barn with garage style doors. Mice come right in.
