Choosing a lake in TX to live on

I know this has been the topic of many threads here in the past but I am going to ask it again because I love these threads.

Which lake in TX would you retire to? I am thinking I like Fork. For those that live or have lived on Fork in the past, what are the pros and cons of this lake?

Is it too busy/crowded?

A constant level lake would be my choice.

None of the lakes up here in the NE have fish anymore, especially Fork!
I would look South or SE .

I would think any constant level lake in Texas would have lots of boat traffic.

There are lots of Fish in Fork, I would not waste my time looking South or SE. The Northern lakes are the Best.

LBJ was #1 on my list for years. Not so much anymore. Too many people and property taxes are outrageous.

Look at some of the smaller lakes that aren’t destination spots.

My dad lives on one that is just over 1,000 acres (most of my family has lived on it for about 50 years). It is only really busy on holidays. The main lake can get busy on weekends, but the coves are typically just used by residents or bass fishermen.
