    Bow Muscles?

    Hey guys,

I was wondering what muscles are the "bow muscles". I read a magazine article about it a while back but I've looked through my magazines and can't find it anywhere. I believe the muscles are in the arm, back and shoulder (maybe) and I was wondering if anyone knew the names of the specific muscles. Any help would be appreciated!

All I know is if you pull too much weight, the sphincter muscle can get involved!

Might need to put that statement to the 4 Way Test

All of the above mentioned muscles come into play but you should try to concentrate on using your back muscles.

Seated rows are the closest exercise I've found to drawing a bow.

                          Steven - thanks a lot!

A&M, Arquero, J, and Snakelover, thanks for the input!

I was wondering because I go to the gym 3 times a week and since I have been working out my back a lot more I've noticed that I can hold my bow drawn for a loooooooong time now. Thanks for all the input!

Bowfit is a great tool for getting the archery muscles in shape

I've been using a gizmo I got called "Bowcise". Very well made product and theres nothing closer to duplicate drawing a bow. It uses speargun tubing as the resistance. I could really tell the difference after I started using it.

The guy makes up a batch and sells them on e-bay. Just keep searching "bowcize" and every couple of weeks his auction comes up.

Funny thing is, don't get in a bidding war...just put one bid in early. After the auction is over (and you lose) he will e-mail you and give you a "second chance offer" to buy it at the price you bid. I paid $10 + shipping for mine and the "winner" of the auction paid $21 + shipping LOL.
