Considering Traeger Pro 22 - GS opinion?

Never owned a pellet grill / smoker before. I own a 18" Weber Smokey Mountain charcoal smoker. Considering Pro Series 22 Pellet Grill for $599. Seems easier to setup, maintain, and clean.

GS Opinion - is it worth it?

I got one in December and love it so far. Cook on it a couple times a week. Mine is the old style with the dial. It’s perfect sized for me, can handle about three racks of ribs or two mid-sized briskets, max. I’ve never failed to get a smoke ring or good bark on a brisket. I’m sure there are others out there with better features or whatever, but the local hardware store had this one in stock and I’d buy another if it came down to it.

I’d take a hard look at PitBoss pro series in that price range. Feature rich and thicker/heavier construction. Your local Lowe’s should have some you can coon paw.

I do not have the TRaeger but I do have the Pitboss Pro 1150 from Lowes - I love it have not had any major issues.

Get the one that has the pellet dump if you get one. Living in Texas with the humidity they can stick together and clump up between uses. I’m just not sure which one has it. I don’t personally own one but have buddies that do and this is the one complaint.

This and one with an ash dump! Beats having to disassemble and vacuum the ashes ever 3-4 cooks.
