I had it over Thanksgiving and my taste is mostly back but I do find that I won't smell things unless they are strong. For example, I don't smell anything in the gym when I feel like I should. And, I noticed at church yesterday that I didn't smell anything when I'm certain men and women were wearing perfume and cologne.

I had 4 months of complete loss of smell and taste. Literally couldn't smell or taste anything at all. Around the 4 month mark I started getting my taste back with certain foods, and it seems like my taste was completely back a month or so after it began coming back. Smell started coming back around that same time, but there are still smells I can't smell and my sensitivity isn't nearly what it used to be. You're gonna have to Dutch oven me for me to small a flatulate now. I had Covid at the end of August, so I'm going on 7 months.

My wife had this same issue for months and can't stand it.

I honestly can’t describe what it smells like but I guess it’s somewhat similar to what your describing, but only certain items. Pretty odd deal.
Had COVID the first of October, couldn't smell/taste for months. Many things that I know smell/taste different now smell/taste the same. I can't really describe it; kinda like burnt chocolate. Coffee is one of the biggest disappointments; used to love it, now only drink it for the caffeine. The things that actually DO taste/smell correctly are very muted....this virus is bull ****.

Been there myself. Long before covid though.

Smelling an odor that might not be real? It could be phantosmia. Learn more about this condition, including when it could indicate something serious.

I had labs drawn last week and am talking with the infectious disease specialist here in Tyler, hopefully it will lead to something. The Dr. said she has seen it but not a case as bad as mine.

If i do get some clarity, ill post here.

I had COVID in November. But the last 2 months everything smells burnt or like a cigarette smell.

I test my wife's smell every night. I don't think she can smell but she thinks the testing procedure is rude.

I had it, now red Gatorade tastes like Raid Roach Spray, but everything else is fairly normal.

Question: Have those of you that report a smell or taste issue coming on after covid have the vaccinations?

Which begs the question, what ever made you decide to taste roach spray in the past?

Negative, no vaccine and don’t plan on it.

The vaccine(s) shouldn't cause anyone to have a smell/taste issue. The loss/alteration of smell/taste is currently thought to be caused by the actual virus attacking the nerves that transmit the smell/taste sensations to the brain. Since the vaccines do not contain the actual virus, there should not be an issue.
