I have also killed them using ghillie/leafy suit on the ground. It is an extremely rewarding feeling. Find a big tree to draw behind, or a cedar between you and the decoys, next to a bluebonnet patch if your lucky. Make sure you know how to use a diaphragm call if you choose this option.

I would suggest, you don't just limit yourself to you pre-set blinds. But if you are set on that, then I would suggest trying to do more fall hunting. If you throw out maize around your deer feeders, in the fall, and there are turkeys anywhere near, they will come and eat it. In spring, they are much more fickle, as they are more interested in fun than eating.

Good luck. Hope to see you posting up a big gobbler soon.
I only take head shots with a Bullhead so I either kill them or miss. No wounded birds. The problem is that I like to video my hunts, and setting up a pop up with a chair, decoys, and camera equipment takes too long and makes too much noise. I'm not new to this game, and I always kill a couple on my terms. I have blinds all over my property, it's just a matter of deciding which blind is getting the most action. There just doesn't seem to be any pattern to our turkeys, and I was wondering if that is the case elsewhere. If you want to see some of my videos, go to shoot4fun on Youtuble. Like I said earlier, I had multiple camera failures Monday and didn't get any video on that one.

Awesome, I will check them out. Yeah, lugging around cameras, and such is not fun in the dark. Good luck out there. Hope they start patterning up for you.

Rio Grande turkeys are very fickle critters, and difficult to pattern. They act the same at our place as you have described. I have had my best luck in the middle of the day calling them to my blind location. But, many times they come in without a single sound! Once they see the decoy, it's money in the bank. I get them in by continuing to call every few minutes, usually with different sounding calls. Some days they want aggressive, and some days they want it quiet. It is lots of fun trying to figure them out, and very satisfying when you are successful!! Good luck!
