Hocutt is the one Tech fans should really be mad at. That guy is a ZERO...how he keeps a job is beyond me.

You’re not entirely wrong. Golding is a great coach.

          They called. He said no.

I am ok with Beard leaving. I really am. Would have been fine with him staying. As long as Adams and Sutton can be retained then the brains in the outfit still wear red and black. If they go then the program is in trouble without a quick, decisive, top-quality hire. Luckily Hocutt isn’t in charge of this one. His hiring choices are historically monumentally bad.

Glad I’m not the only one that feels this way about Hocutt. He got lucky with Beard & Tadlock. Otherwise they have been awful.

PS: UT fans have selective memory about Tadlock. In their minds UT never made him an offer, so he never really rejected them.

You are correct on Tadkock. Texas made a run at him.

There’s no way that Hocutt is making this hire as he’s probably on his way out too especially if football doesn’t do anything.

For the record, Hocutt can’t really take credit for Tadlock. Spencer wanted to hire Tadlock and Hocutt said no. Didn’t want to pay what it was gonna take. Eventually Hocutt lost that battle. A year later Spencer was gone and Tadlock took over. If it had been left to Hocutt then Tadlock wouldn’t have ever come to Tech. True story.

Hocutt is a plague upon the Texas Tech athletic department and **** sure isn’t worth the money that he is getting paid.

How is he not involved in this hire?

He is involved. He isn’t in charge.

Internal search committee. External search firm. He can’t pull his typical BS and just shoot from the hip and hire a random, highly mediocre coach for way too much money. There are adults in the room for this one.

I don’t think it ever got that far. The flirtation was real.

So this was not the case with Wells and the others that they had to fire/terminate or whatever. He is the AD after all or should I say just a puppet with the AD title. What is going on at Tech with Holcutt and the coach hires and his input?

I’m afraid that Hocutt won’t leave until he is fired. The guy makes too much money. The fact that he is the 4th or 5th highest paid AD in the country is asinine. His decision making is horrible. We pay for a filet mignon and get a Filet-O-Fish.

Wells was hired with no search firm or input from anyone. He did that 100% on his own and turned his nose up at any suggestions otherwise.

OK, got it! That hurt with Wells and some of his others and especially his "clout" or positions in the heiarchy in the NCAA the last few years.

I was alluding to him getting fired. His safety blankets were Beard and Tadlock and he just lost one. He’s on shaky ground.
