    PEX size question

I'm currently doing a complete bathroom remodel. The hot and cold supply to the shower out of the slab are both 1/2" copper. I had to cut the copper lines down low as they use to be for a bathtub, so I'm moving them up. So from there I want to run PEX up to the diverter and from the diverter to the shower head and spray bar. Will 1/2" pex be sufficient or do I need to run 3/4". At first I figured 1/2 was good but I'm second guessing now

1/2 should be good, I just redid my ranch house using 1/2 pex and it works great.

Ok, I figured half was fine, but when I picked up the pipe yesterday I started to second guess it. I know the main difference in the 2 are volume, but with the shower heads I'm not as concerned with volume as I am with pressure

Make sure if you are dropping down from the shower valve you use copper or galvanized. If not, the reduced diameter of the pex will cause enough back pressure to allow water to flow out of shower head even with diverter off. Ask me how I know.

As others have said, you're good with 1/2"

The flow rates for 1/2 pex are less than the flow rates for 1/2 copper. When I remodeled my house, I bought cartridges from delta that very high flow ratings and connected those with 3/4" so I would have significant flow in tubs and showers. I ran 1/2" to sinks, toilets, dishwasher, etc. I ran 3/4" from where the pipe from my well came into the house which is 1 1/4". I used either 3/4" or 1/2" tees on that long run to feed each fixture along the way... I love pex, but I hate the reduced flow from equivalent sizes. I wish the manufacturers of various kitchen and bath products would come "pex 3/4" certified" but I guess I'm just a very nitpicky person. In hindsight, I should have run even thicker pex as my main trunk as it notice it at the end of the run when fixtures are running. I'd probably run 1" pex if I did it again.
