    Thyroid cancer in dogs

    Anyone with some experience? Thanks.

Lost my lab to it. Vet said he could do treatment but couldn't guarantee the length of life we would receive from it. It was outrageously expensive. That was 4 yrs ago this coming April.

Thanks for the reply. How long did your lab last without treatment?

Anyone else deal with thyroid cancer in their dog?

My lab had early stages of this with constant coughing issues unless he was laying his head flat against the ground on top of labored breathing. Vet said treatments would prolong the life of him but he would really have no value to life as it was going to get worse. Expensive to treat as mentioned above. Ultimately the hardest thing iv had to do, but it was the right choice for me and him. Hes better off now than he would've been.

I have had 5 Rotties and lost all of them to some form of cancer, but never thyroid. I just put my last Rottie down last Thursday due to advanced Diabetes. Mine have had bone cancer, Leukemia, cancer of the spleen/stomach and another stomach cancer.

Soryy for what you and your pup are going thru. Not ever easy loosing man's best friend.

Maybe 6 more months. The vet gave us medicine for him so he wouldn't be in pain. Just fell asleep one night and never woke up.

We have a Boston terrier that has it. We were told about three years ago she would only last about a year. She takes some cat medicine twice a day and it seems to be helping her. She has been going down hill the last thre months though.

                Yes.

Chocolate lab had it. Went to a vet who referred us. 4k for testing to see if a 6k surgery would even work and said 4-6 months, maybe a year on an 11 year old pup.

Went home with some pain meds that only halfway worked. One afternoon she wouldn't quit staring at me so we went for our last walk.
