I really canโt say but I am sure there is some hunting land available that hold deer. I used to travel through there a lot and what was country back then are now subdivisions. Farms and ranches have sold out to the real estate brokers.
20 years ago it was a nice little town but i think it has grown to fast. Comal county for some reason draws people that want to live there. Itโs a suburb of San Antonio nowadays.
Good luck.

Most places have plenty of deer, possibly turkey, possibly some pigs. Then there are some places that have lots of deer and or lots of turkey. There are some places in the area, that have axis, they just move into the area, from Bulverde. To the west of New Braunfels, off of 1863 and 46, is where I know there are axis. Turkey depends on how much water is near by.
The terrain and the hunting varies, depending on exactly where around New Braunfels you are. IH 35, is pretty much the dividing line for the hill country. To the west of 35, it's mostly hilly, but not all of it is hilly. But there are some good sized rocky hills, lots of cedar, and live oaks, but there is a good bit of black clay, and there are some mesquite. Just the opposite east of 35, it's more flat, with rolling hills, live oaks, mesquite, some cedar, a lot more black clay, but not all of it, there are some rocky areas to the east of 35.
The quality of the deer vary, like any place. They are generally smaller bodied deer, but there are the typical Texas whitetails. The quality of the racks ranges from typical small bucks, to some pretty decent deer. If you are not on a ranch that has a managed heard, I would expect the bigger, older bucks to be in the 120" to 130" range, with occasional 140" deer, those are definitely not that common. But there are some. I would assume there are some larger than that. We hunted out side of Boerne years ago, and saw a buck out there that would easily go 170". I would say, if they can grow that big outside of Boerne, in Kendal County, they could get the same size in some areas of Comal County.Last edited by RifleBowPistol; 03-08-2021, 07:57 PM.
